Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2012 receives “Best of Country” award

1 December, 2014

Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2012 was selected “Best of Country” in the WineAlign “2014 World Wine Awards of Canada” (www.winealign.com). Best of Country selections represent the top wine across all categories and grape types in which that country’s wines were entered. In other words, in this competition, our Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2012 has been chosen the best wine from Argentina. The competition took place in Toronto where Anthony Gismondi and David Lawrason two of Canada´s most influential wine writers co hosted the tasting of hundreds of wines sold across Canada in flights along with similar varietals in price categories under CA$15, between CA$15 to $25 and over CA$25.

Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2012

Kaiken Ultra wines express the wish of the Kaiken and Montes team of winemakers and viticulturists to share their experience and knowledge of making high quality wines of both sides of the Andes particularly with Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, emblematic varieties of Argentina and Chile.

I am very proud of this recognition that the Kaiken team receives from critics of such an important market as Canada where you find wines from all over the world. Our Ultra Malbec is made with handpicked grapes from vines planted prior to 1970 in our vineyards in the Uco Valley 1,000 meters above sea level, near Mendoza. The wine stands out for its intense red color and fruity aromas of blueberry and plum accompanied by spicy notes of black pepper and rosemary. Tannins are smooth and elegant. The palate is well rounded with smooth, elegant tannins and a pleasing finish recalling black fruits, vanilla, and tobacco. No doubt in our minds our Ultra is a true exponent of Argentinean Malbec.
